The Rainbow Village by Athanasia Hasioti from Greece

I was at home doing my homework when, suddenly, the ground started shaking.  The walls of my house were cracking and everything seemed to collapse.  Suddenly, water swept me away.  I grabbed my chair and the water carried me away without a destination… I was petrified, I heard helpless people screaming for help but I couldn’t do anything, I was also in danger.  Suddenly, not far from me, I saw some people climbing up a ladder that seemed to be hanging from the sky.  I couldn’t believe my eyes, but I thought that this was the only way to save myself.  So, I left my chair and started swimming to reach the ladder.  I started climbing up fast and when I reached its top, my mother and sister were waiting for me in a wonderful place, called ‘the rainbow village”.  They told me that we are safe now and that we will live happily here, among kind, cheerful and hard-working people.
